The Pink Crystal: a Collector’s Specimen

There are two varieties of pink quartz, rose quartz and pink crystal. Pink crystal differs in that it grows as crystals while rose quartz grows in masses. The color of a pink crystal is also different in that it’s due to radiation and trace amounts of aluminum, phosphorous, and possibly even titanium. They are even more sensitive to heat and light exposure than rose quartz and fade away fast upon exposure to the elements. Pink crystal is almost always sold as an original specimen because of its rarity. Bought not to be faceted for jewelry, but kept as a prized collection piece.
